I have been a member of the race committee since 2023. Derek and I were friends and graduated from Bridgeport High School together in 2005. I have lived in Bridgeport, W.V. my entire life and continue to reside here with my children, A.J. (10) and Martina (8).
I am a former teacher of 10+ years, and current school counselor at Bridgeport Middle and Bridgeport High School. I believe that health and fitness is a wonderful outlet to support mental health as well as physical health. The DHFS5K is a wonderful event for our Bridgeport Community to not only support mental and physical health, but to also remember Derek’s legacy. This race is also a great opportunity to pay a tribute to all of law enforcement for their selfless dedication to keep us all safe within our community and state.
This is such a FUN event for the ENTIRE family. Each and every year, my family looks forward to running and participating in the fun activities within this race. This race gets better each year with continued support and fresh ideas for transformation.
