Recipients

Sgt. Justin A. Hetherington of Salem is a combat veteran of the U.S. Army and has served as a police officer since 2016 starting his career in Texas. He is currently a police officer for the Town of Nutter Fort and is assigned to the K-9 Unit. He has been a K-9 officer since 2018. A career in law enforcement has been a lifelong goal and as he has grown in his career, he has realized that education is key to success in the field. Sgt. Hetherington is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He is a senior at Fairmont State University. After graduation, he plans to become a Deputy U.S. Marshal.
