BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Since 2011, the Derek Hotsinpiller Fallen Stars 5K in Bridgeport has allowed athletes to burn some calories and honor fallen heroes, and this year’s race saw an estimated 1,000 people show up to support the cause.
Many participating in the 5k come from law enforcement backgrounds, representing multiple agencies. Carlton Smith, a West Virginia State Police officer, had the chance not only to participate but also to sing the national anthem before the race…..
